Understand What Every Employee Skill Actually Does

Search a role to see how its skill is used, which businesses need it, whether satisfaction changes its effect, and where the important skill breakpoints are.

What are you trying to improve?

Start from the result you want. This page points you at the skill that controls it.

Before you train

Higher skill can:

  • improve the role effect
  • reach a breakpoint or unlock
  • increase the employee's wage
  • introduce additional employee demands

Recruitment filters only describe the demands visible when the candidate was hired. Training later can still introduce new demands.

Why is my high-skill employee performing badly?

Start from what the employee is actually doing, then check the skill that workstation requires.

Which skill does this workstation use?

One employee can have more than one relevant skill. The skill that matters is the one required by the workstation the employee is actually using.

Common Skill Questions

Why is my 100-skill employee still performing badly?

First check which skill the workstation actually requires, then check satisfaction for satisfaction-scaled roles.

Does satisfaction affect every skill?

No. Factory, security and manager roles use the skill value directly.

Should I train every employee to 100?

Only when the role keeps improving with skill. Check the next breakpoint or unlock first, then compare the cost. High skill can still perform badly when satisfaction is low. Check satisfaction before training further.

Why did training unlock nothing?

The employee may not have crossed a known breakpoint, or this role has no confirmed breakpoint.

Why did the employee gain a new demand after training?

Recruitment filters only describe the demands visible when the candidate was hired. Higher skill can introduce new demands later.

Why did the wage rise after training?

Paid training changes skill and follows the training wage-adjustment path.

Which skill does a workstation need?

Use the workstation check on this page, or open the business guide for its workstation list.

How Employee Skills Work in Big Ambitions

Skills represent different employee roles. A retail service role, factory position and headquarters manager can all show Skill 80 while using that number in completely different systems.

Not every role uses the same formula. Customer-facing roles can scale skill by satisfaction, while Factory Worker output, security contribution and several manager systems use the skill value directly.

Some skills scale continuously while others have breakpoints. HR Manager capacity changes at specific levels, Delivery Driver gates vehicle eligibility and Logistics Manager capacity changes with the warehouse's base destinations.

Training changes both skill and employee economics. Paid training raises wages, while natural growth requires high satisfaction and relevant work. Use Recruitment, Training, Job Demands and Scheduling for the next decision.

Recruitment filters only describe the demands visible when the candidate was hired. Training later can still introduce new demands.
