Common Staffing Questions

Does 100% coverage mean the business is optimal?

No. It only means every entered active slot has a compatible employee. Demand, skill performance, capacity and profit remain separate.

Why can total hours look sufficient while gaps remain?

Employees cannot occupy two workstations at once, and their available hours may not overlap the missing window.

Does a higher skill employee cover more than one station?

No. Skill level can satisfy an eligibility threshold, but it is not a multiplier for simultaneous coverage.

Why is a covered hour amber?

The practical mode found technical coverage by violating a relaxable scheduling demand.

Can this planner create my final weekly schedule?

No. It diagnoses where labor is missing. Continue to the Auto Scheduler when the compatible labor pool is sufficient.

How Staffing Coverage Works in Big Ambitions

Coverage starts with active workstations. A business role tells you which employee skill may be relevant, but it does not tell you how many people your save needs. Every active desk, service station, production slot or delivery vehicle creates its own time requirement.

Compatible hours are more useful than employee count. One Lawyer with 40 weekly hours cannot cover three Lawyer workstations open at the same time. The planner checks skill compatibility, opening days, shift availability, weekly limits and the hard 12-hour daily limit before marking an hour covered.

Not every gap has the same cause. A Skill Gap means no entered employee has the required primary skill. An Availability Gap means compatible labor exists but cannot work that window. A Capacity Gap means compatible employees are already assigned elsewhere at the same time. Each diagnosis points to a different fix.

Coverage and employee demands remain separate. Practical analysis can show that a workstation is technically covered while also marking a No Evening, Free Weekends or No Cleaning conflict. That distinction prevents a full coverage percentage from hiding an unacceptable schedule.

The result is a staffing diagnosis, not an auto schedule. Use the missing-employee profile to test a hire or open Recruitment. If you already have enough compatible labor but need help arranging exact shifts, continue to the Auto Scheduler.
